The Auberge is a true bed and breakfast in the sense that the innkeepers live on site and have welcomed guests from all over the world into their home since 1997.  Brigitte, her husband Louis , their daughter Isabelle and dog Lucy welcome you to the Auberge!  Brigitte has grown up in the hospitality business and is proud of her French Canadian grandparents who started this adventure into the service industry. Her maternal grandfather, being from Montreal, recognized the potential of this beautiful beach in southern Maine and opened his first motel in Old Orchard Beach in 1949 which still exists today. Her paternal grandparents owned various restaurants in the Montreal area, with the most notable being the fine dining “ Au Vieux Manoir”  which received critical acclaim in its heyday. Brigitte grew up in the province of New-Brunswick, graduating from St. Vincent’s catholic high school and later the University of N.B. with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

In 1996, she purchased this old house built in 1905 and had to make a decision as to what to do with it! It was a natural decision to turn this beautiful beach house into a bed and breakfast combining her love of food and lodging.  It is a work in progress with renovations being done every year to improve upon the great bones of the building.  She is involved extensively in her community and loves living in Old Orchard Beach year-round.

Louis moved to the beach from the Rochester, New York area and brings with him a love for the sandy shore and the quality of life that Maine has to offer.  He is “Mr. fix-it” and loves to interact with guests and help them find things to do while visiting the area.

Their daughter Isabelle loves to talk with guests while they are having breakfast and takes her role as “ innkeeper –in –training” very seriously! She loves having the beach in her back yard for starfish gathering and sandcastle building!  Their springer spaniel Lucy especially loves the beach and her new home since being rescued and adopted into the Menard-Galetto family. But don’t worry, she does not interact with guests unless you want her to…and then she might smother you with lots of kisses…
